Giovanni Potage is a former Banzai Captain of the Banzai Blasters, who broke into the Sweet Jazz City Museum with the rest of his team while having no real goal other than "stealing artifacts". He was defeated and captured by Mera Salamin and Indus Tarbella but would eventually defeat them with his new-found friend and minion, Molly Blyndeff, as well as acquiring the powerful Epithet-stealing Arsene Amulet.
A few days later, he went to Redwood Run to get the amulet appraised by Ramsey Murdoch, learning its true value before it was stolen from him by Bugsy Pugsler and Arnold Markdown. This ruined his trust in the Banzai Blasters, vowing to form his own villain group. He also got caught up in a bar brawl where he managed to get some revenge on the two but also accidentally revealed his name to the cop, Percival King. Afterward, he went into hiding as the Sweet Jazz Police Department was after him.
Later, he adopted a new villain persona, Vincent Murder and called a meeting with the same minions to officially form their new villain group. Realizing that none of them would be available for his upcoming mission, he visited Molly to announce this all to her. However, he ended up being dragged into Molly's sister, Lorelai's, Dream Bubble. He attempted to befriend her and recruit her as a minion. But, when he learned of her true nature, he helped Molly defeat her before "kidnapping" Molly so she would have a much happier life.
His Epithet, ★Soup★, allows him to create soup. He manages to make the power useful through his immense creativity. He's equipped with a bat with a knife taped to it (the Soul Slugger Doom Bat of Maximum Destruction) and is backed up by a small crew of minions to also help bolster his strength.

Giovanni is a tall lanky young man with white skin and pink hair. His outfit as a Banzai Captain is a yellow suit with the Banzai "B" shown askew and resembling a "W". He wears a red cape tied at the neck and spiky yellow shoulder pads with white rims. His yellow top is buttoned not down the middle, but crossing over to his left side. He wears yellow gloves with red and white pads and four spikes on each hand. He has on white boots with red accents and soles. He also does not wear a helmet or face covering of any kind unlike his minions.
His Vincent Murder outfit includes an orange shirt as well as black plastic armor. The armor has both a white painted X on its front and a white slash mark on his stomach armor. A black catcher's mask augmented with an orange visor. Instead of shoulder pads, Vincent Murder has cup holders which can store soup. A white belt holds up a ripped black skirt. The skirt matches Vincent Murder's cape with its orange fire designs. Covering up black pants are white knee pads and two big white boots. He wears black gloves with fin-like spikes on the wrists. The text of Prison of plastic states that he has black fingerless gloves with black nail polish but this is not shown in the artwork.
When in casual clothes, he wears a dark pink jacket with a fluffy white hood and jeans, alongside black nail polish on occasion. He also wears dark boots with white laces.

Giovanni is a very ambitious troublemaker who loves baseball, robots, and anything edgy. He has dreams of one day becoming the greatest supervillain of all time.
Giovanni usually tries to look cool and menacing (when it just comes off as pathetic). This was shown when he attempts to knock over a potted plant to prove that he is a "Certified Bad Dude™" and fails.[8]
Giovanni believes that his Epithet ★Soup★ doesn't sound cool or threatening at all, and may even be embarrassed by it, so he tries to make his attacks sound cooler by calling scalding soup "lava" or steam "demon energy".
Despite being one of the "bad guys", he seems to have a secret soft side as he is shown to care deeply about every one of his minions, even if he's willing to mess with them at times. He has sworn to never abuse his authority or steal his minions' hard labor and goes so far as to quit the Banzai Blasters entirely when convinced that the only way to get ahead is to do so.
He appears to have had a strange idea of what being a Banzai Blaster meant in the first place, as despite it being a blatantly corrupt pyramid scheme, he believed it was a place for youths to channel their energy positively through crime. When his team hadn't been given a leader due to not being deemed worthwhile, Giovanni displayed leadership skills and organized activities and crimes for the group, allowing them to grow closer, inadvertently winning him their loyalty. When he quit, his Boys were more than happy to join him, despite Giovanni's complete lack of planning.
He's very emotional as he cries very easily and has quite a temper.

He was born on February 6[4] to his mother and a seed donor,[Citation Needed], in Sweet Jazz City, Taiga Country.[9] He grew up with his two moms[Citation Needed], one of them being Rhonda Potage.[10]
Giovanni was an outcast among his family and, during family get-togethers, would get beaten up by the Roughhouses (especially Moxie Roughhouse). During one infamous get-together, Giovanni humiliated himself by eating a lump of hot coal that he thought was "forbidden candy", resulting in him burning his mouth.[11] He then kept on accidentally reopening the wound while training his Epithet ★Soup★, causing him to become mostly taste deaf.[12] Trixie and Rex were the only Roughhouses who didn't beat up Giovanni, because they were relatively younger than him. This caused Giovanni to play with them more frequently until the three became close friends with each other. Despite this, Trixie still found him lame.[11]
He became a member of a Banzai Blasters squad with Ben, Flamethrower, Car Crash, Spike, Crusher, and Dark Star, without a leader. Initially wanted to be called "Hot Shot", he would end up with the nickname "Creampuff ” to mock him for bringing a tray of homemade pastries to their squad’s first meeting as a way to say hello to his new teammates.[13]
Whenever the group was in danger of settling into that “standing around in a parking lot and doing nothing” flavor of teenage boredom typical of a Banzai Blaster squad, Giovanni would "light a fire under them". They had show-and-tell nights where they would see who could steal and present the strangest item. Winners got star stickers. One time, they snuck into a convenience store and replaced all of the gas station hot dogs with cattails from a nearby pond. Giovanni had so many ideas for things to do that following his plans became second nature. Dark Star jokingly called him “Boss” and the nickname stuck.[13]
Later, he was promoted to Banzai Captain. He formulated a plan to break into the Sweet Jazz City Museum, wanting to break in at midnight but had to do it earlier due to not having a ride that would take them at that time.[8]

Arsene Amulet Apprasial[edit | edit source]
After escaping the Museum, Giovanni Potage returned home. He changed his outfit and called the appraiser listed in the Banzai Blaster Manual, Ramsey Murdoch. They exchanged pleasantries and then Giovanni said that he had a necklace before being interrupted by his mother, asking who he was talking to. Giovanni told her it was no one before he continued to explain to him that he had the Arsene Amulet. They up a meeting in Redwood Run in two days while Ramsey tried to rush the conversation. Giovanni assumed he was rushing because of Ramsey's mother. He asked his mother if he could borrow the car on Wednesday but she declined because that night was Yoga night.[10]
He had Fred Donaldson drive him there, stopping at the nearby gas station. On the way he complained about his mother's yoga night being a disguise for Debby's alcholism. Fred said he was brace for talking smack about his mom before Giovanni said that Car Crash would get there one day. Fred then got annoyed at him using his Banzai Blaster name, Giovanni blew him off and then walked into Redwood Run, saying he'll be back in a few hours.[10]
Giovanni walked into Redwood Run and was estatic releazing it was a "evil town" due to it crawling with Banzai Blasters. He then looked for the building with the metal roof that Ramsey had mentioned. When he finally found it, he realized it was a police station. This caused him to worry this was a set-up so he stormed in with his bat raised. But he was met by Gorou Shimizaki who politely asked his name. Giovanni gave it and then whispered he was meeting some for "crime things". Gorou immediately pointed him to the only cell in the building holding its only prisoner.[10]
When Giovanni walked over to the cell and asked the prisoner if he was Ramsey Murdoch, he was disgusted by the Ramsey's face when he turned to look at him. When Giovanni tried to explain he wasn't being a jerk Ramsey used his Golden Eye before asking if he was the one who called about the amulet. Giovanni then asked him what happened and Rasmey explained he turned himself. Giovanni was surpized by this since he thought Ramsey shouldn't give up, especially before he appraised his necklace. Ramsey them explained to him that it was like a vacation for him, and being in technically jail alreadly gave him legal immunity. He then demonstrated that Gorou waited on him like a servant and explained he was loon who was only appointed sherriff because he was Inscribed.[10]
Ramsey then asked Giovanni to show him the amulet and he does. Giovanni then explained the circumstances of how he described it and what he knew about it. Ramsey confirmed it was the Arsene Amulet and then asked for it. Giovanni refused to do so, worried Ramsey was planning to steal it. So Ramsey showed him his epithet, ★Goldbricker★, so he dosen't need to steal to make money, he does apparising out the goodness of his heart. Giovanni was convinced and gave him the amulet. Ramsey examined it and told Giovanni that the amulet was ultimatly worth millions, since its embued power made it valuable to alot of people. Giovanni realized that if he gave it to the higher-ups in the Banzai Blasters he could get a promotion to Banzai Valedictorian. This surprized Ramsey who said that they don't pay well and he could get twice that by giving it to Bliss Ocean. Giovanni explained that he won't becuse they are scary and when Ramsey explained that isn't a good reason. So, Giovanni further explained that turning it into the higher ups would allow him to further his dream of being the biggest villain of all time while keeping his current minions.[10]
Jumped by Bugsy and Arnold[edit | edit source]
He left the police station, walking backward, twriling the Arsene Amulet and fingerguning toward it. However, this caused Giovanni to back into Bugsy Pugsler, falling to the ground. Bugsy and his partner Arnold Markdown mocked him for being lowly Banzai Captain with something so important and tried to take the amulet from him. Giovanni sidestepped Arnold's grab for it and explained that were Banzai Vice Principals, meaning they outrank him. This caused Giovanni to realize that others were right that the ranking system was confusing.[10]
Giovanni stared at the amulet and said how you can't steal a minion's hardwork but Arnold explained that that is the point of minions as they exist as tools for their villain. Giovanni was appaled by this and tried to explain that minions are the heart and soul of villainy. Bugsy asked him to prove it by showing him his minions and when Giovanni said he couldn't due to not having them with him, Bugsy's minions surrounded him and plummeted him.[10]
Bugsy took the amulet and threw Giovanni aside. Giovanni laid in pain and sad on the ground as the vice principals gloat. Giovanni tells them they weren't real bad guys, they were selfish jerks. Bugsy explained that villainy was a dog-eat-dog-world and thay every moron stays a minion so anyone with real value moves up. Bugsy further explained that this is how it is throughout the entire Banzai Blasters organization. This causes Giovanni to reslove that he dosen't need the Banzai Blasters and he will a great villain on his own. He then says how he would storm off but his ride won't be here for a few hours so he enters the taver behind him.[10]
Brawl at Howdy Morning's Tavern[edit | edit source]
Givoanni sat at the bar, still devastated by the loss of the amulet. He wasgreeted by the bartender and ask what he wanted to drink. Giovanni decided he wanted something hard and was given a drinkable pinecone. He thought about how he was turning into Debbie before biting into the pinecone..[10] Percival King walked up to the bar and told him he's under arrest. Giovanni, shocked by her appearance, shouts "Police Lady", which causes the other Banzai Blasters to shout it as well before drawing their guns at Percy,[10][17] as they surround her.[17]
Bugsy Pugsler and Arnold Markdown enter the bar and while Percy is fighting Bugsy and Arnold, Giovanni talked loudly with Ramsey. Giovanni is mad that Ramsey sold him out to a cop and does not believe him that he did not know it was him she was after. Giovanni mumbles about how he lost the amulet and now she is after him, whichb causes Ramsey to yell at him in disbelief that he has already lost the amulet. They duck to dodge a flying body of one of the Banzai Blasters, Giovanni realizes that he should run away. He tried to ask the bartender if there was a backdoor but he said he didn't know due to missing his senses. Ramsey told Giovanni that he will try to distract Percy to help Giovanni to run away. Ramsey told Percy that Bugsy must have it, Percy made the inferce that Giovanni must have given it to them. This enrages Giovanni exclaiming that that was not the case. Ramsey stops him from getting closer to her and tells Giovanni to get out of here. Giovanni then watched worried as Bartender pulls out his soup shotgun.[17]
Giovanni hides and watches the battle, where Bugsy uses his epithet, to turn the soup from the shotgun he swallowed into attacks. He jumps out of hiding and exclaims he had an idea. And then Giovanni uses Soup that is Too Hot on the soup in Bugsy's mouth, causing him to spit it back out. Giovanni then punchedBugsy back and stands on the table above him. He mocked Arnold and Bugsy while accidentally revealing that his name is Giovanni Potage, when trying to enlist the other Banzai Blasters in his group. Percy notes his name, Giovanni feeblely tried to deny it was his real name before giving up. Then, Arnold tried to use his epithet-empowered coupons, but Giovanni poured soup on them, while mocking him again. He then runs out of the tavern, running into Gorou Shimizaki in the doorway. He politely apologizd to him for running into him and after an equally polite response from Gorou, he ran out of the tavern [17]
Escaping Redwood Run[edit | edit source]
After he left the tavern, Giovanni Potage headed to the spot where Fred Donaldson left him. He is surprised and upset to find that Fred has crashed his car. He yells at him about how he was living up to his alias, having crashed five cars in the last year. Fred tried to defend himself before Giovanni explained that he is worried about him and that Fred may have astigmatism. And then he explained and worried about the cop knowing his name and pondered about what to do since there will be wanted posters, a search of his house. At that moment, Zora Salazar appeared, standing on the hood of Fred's crashed car. At first Giovanni was stunned that there was a cowboy before she pointed her gun at him and asked him about the necklace. He presumably gave her the info as she went after Bugsy Pugsler next.[17]
As the police arrested the entirety of Bugsy and Arnold's Banzai Team, Giovanni hid in the bushes with Fred. Fred stepped out of the bushes, asking how they would get home and Giovanni stepped out as well to tell him to be quiet before dragging him back into the bushes when he heard someone apporching. The two successfuly stayed hidden as Ramsey Murdoch and Percival King passed.[18]

Giovanni Potage, with the help of Molly Blyndeff, Ben, and Car Crash disguised as Ben, attempted to steal a valuable gemstone named the Ocean's Eye. Whilst this is happening, they are in plush form to advertise the then-new merch that can no longer be purchased. Molly distracts a guard so Giovanni and his boys can get into the vents. Using the magnets in their hands to make a human chain, they descend to steal the Ocean's Eye. Molly cuts the red string lasers surrounding the valuable gem and Ben tries to pick it up. After he struggles with this, Giovanni muses that in the movies the thieves have no trouble carrying the valuable treasure. Giovanni realizes he can carry Car Crash with no problem and that friendship must be the real treasure. Giovanni and Car Crash leave gleefully via the vent they were dangling from accidentally leaving Ben in the museum. The three of them, Giovanni, Molly, and Car Crash, go on to steal ice cream.

Percival King is at the Sweet Jazz City police station, looking at a police lineup for suspects. Sylvester Ashling is running the operation, asking Percy if she knows who in the lineup is the criminal. Percy responds she only heard the criminal's voice whilst singing the song "I want it that way". Sylvie asks the criminals to sing "I want it that way". Number one, Ramsey Murdoch, hesitates before singing the opening section. Mera Salamin, Indus Tarbella, and Giovanni Potage sing the following sections. All five criminals then sing the following section together. Criminal five, Zora Salazar, sings the section "I never wanna hear you say" by herself. All of the criminals sing the last section together before Percy comments that criminal number five is the one who killed her brother. Sylvie then admits he forgot they were looking for a criminal in the excitement of singing.

- Bat Proficiency: Giovanni is quite skilled at wielding a baseball bat[19]. Giovanni once claimed that when it comes to baseball, he cannot be beaten[Citation Needed], and he seemingly has multiple trophies in his room to prove it.[10] He uses his custom-made "Soul Slugger Doom Bat of Maximum Destruction", which is a baseball bat with a knife taped to it.[8]
- Knitting: 'Giovanni is quite skilled at knitting. He used this skill to sit down with Molly to knit a bandana for Corporal Other Bear. He also always carries a knitting/sewing kit with him.[14]
- Chef: Giovanni is an excellent chef who can make more than just soup. He is seen to have made soup, cream puffs, cookies, pancakes, waffles, apple-cinnamon raisin waffles, eggs, and bacon, and it is implied that he can make other foods. He does always need a taste tester to assist him like Giomommy or one of his minions so he can adjust his flavoring. The end product is always good.

- Epithet: Soup: Giovanni's epithet allows him to create and control soup. While a seemingly useless Epithet at first, his high Creativity allows for it to be a versatile power.
LavaAcidLav-acid: Giovanni can form orbs of tomato basil soup out of thin air. This ball of soup is also described as scalding by Giovanni.- Lava Grenade: Giovanni creates a scalding hot orb of soup that he can launch at an area. When it hits the floor, it explodes, hitting enemies in its vicinity.
- Demon Energy Aura: Giovanni creates a whirlwind of soupy energy, capable of blasting dust particles away.
- Teleports Behind You*: Giovanni builds up steam around him, using this for a sudden burst of speed to the point where it looks like teleportation to observers. This can also be used to give himself a large jump. He seems to only be able to cover half the distance whilst carrying another person, although this was only demonstrated with a malnourished child.
- Fog of Lost Souls: Giovanni covers the area with a blanket of thick, delicious-smelling fog, useful for making a getaway. It also restores 1 HP for anyone standing in it.
- Soup That is Too Hot: This is Giovanni's self-proclaimed ultimate attack. He can increase the temperature of soup, without a line of sight.
- Ancient Potion[15]/Liquid Phoenix[11]: Giovanni sweats a bottle of healthy soup that he can drink to regain 15 Stamina. Giovanni can only use this move once per battle. The only time known time he uses it in battle is when he fought Dr. Beefton.[14] He also uses this ability outside of battle, where he generates soup in a toy dumpster truck to revitalize an unconscious Rick Shades.[11]
- CRITICAL 13:[20] As 13 is Giovanni's lucky number, every 13th attack he performs deals extra damage. This can be charged up ahead of time by gently knocking objects or smashing them.[15] This ability is not related to his Epithet as far as anyone can tell.[20] This could also be placebo.
- Silent But Deadly: A combo technique he performs with Molly Blyndeff, Charging at the opponent screaming with a Critical 13 attack ready, while Molly deafens the opponent so that are unaware of him approaching.
Former Abilities[edit | edit source]
- Gargoyle Transformation: Upon meeting Lorelai asks her to make a gargoyle potion. This allows him to harden into a rock statue, beforehand setting a time for himself to un-solidify. It also gives him wings which let him fly and horns.[11]
- This ability was taken away or was no longer being supplied with energy once Lorelai went running to her room to sulk.

- Soul Slugger Doom Bat of Maximum Destruction: A baseball bat with a knife tapped to it. He used it throughout the Museum Arc like his attacks on Mera Salamin and battle with Dr. Beefton.
- "Barbed" Bat: A baseball bat with "barbed wire" wrapped around it. This barbed wire is black spray-painted Christmas lights. This bat is shown in the one-on-one fight Giovanni has against the Harridan. This is because his mom, likely Giomommy specifically told him he couldn't buy barbed wire. He later in the book has his Soul Slugger Doom Bat of Maximum Destruction when knighting Rick, Molly, and Trixie. The change in weapons is never explained.
- Vincent Murder Uniform: His costume, hand made for crime because his identity as Giovanni Potage was compromised after the events of the Museum break-in and Redwood Run. To cover his face, he wore a catcher's mask that paired nicely with his Soul Slugger Doom Bat of maximum destruction. The helmet had an orange visor taped to it on the inside giving it a tacky look. The uniform also has black pauldrons that have cupholders built into them. These cupholders could, by themselves, hold the healing soup Giovanni makes. The costume's cape was black with a bleached inside and light red flame decals licking the bottom. The battle skirt was black with flame designs on it similar to the ones on his cape. The costume has a neon-orange undershirt that could only be accurately compared to Lav-acid and black chunks of blastic layered on top like cooling chunks of magma. The costume's pants were black with piercing white boots and knee pads. The costume's utility belt was that same white and contained calling cards, white baseballs, at least one red marker, and many other useful objects. The costume has black gloves with long sleeves that extend near the elbow. These gloves each had one white spike on their side. A large white "X" symbol was fixed on the costume's chest. The book does differ from art in this costume's details. The book states his gloves are black and fingerless, showing off red painted nails as opposed to his usual black. The book also states that his leggings are also Lav-acid orange instead of black.
- Knitting Kit: Giovani keeps his mother's sewing kit on him to knit as well. He uses this mostly for crafts, as it is not specified that he needs to fix things around his mother's house or friend group. This was likely used in the creation of his Vincent Murder Uniform.[14]
- Phone: Giovanni has a pink flip phone which he uses to call and consult to Ramsey Murdoch as well as set up a meeting in Redwood Run to appraise the Arsene Amulet.[10]
- Calling cards: Giovanni has many premade calling cards which are white baseballs that have varying words scribbled all over them in red. He has been known to custom-make these to give to specific people. He hits or throws these towards friend and foe, anyone who he wants to remember him.[Citation Needed]

- Banzai Captain Uniform: The outfit of a Banzai Captain is a yellow suit with the Banzai "B" shown askew and resembling a "W". We do not know if Giovanni did this himself or if it is part of the uniform. Each Captain can add one piece of aesthetic addition, like a cape. - Arsene Amulet: He acquired the epithet stealing amulet after defeating Mera Salamin with the help of Molly Blyndeff. He temporarily gave it to Molly to restore Sylvester Ashling's Epithet after it was stolen by Mera.[16] He went to get appraised by Ramsey Murdoch but was jumped Bugsy Pugsler and Arnold Markdown and the amulet was stolen.[10] Despite managing to get some revenge on them, he was unable to reclaim the amulet.[17]

At first, Giovanni saw Molly as a minor nuisance who hindered his heist. But after Giovanni was forced to recruit her to escape their "prison", Giovanni began to take a liking to "Bear Trap" after they began bonding over their mutual interests. Eventually, when Giovanni learns about Molly's familial troubles, he begins to give her an inspiring pep talk about how she shouldn't let her family push her around and that she should learn to stand up for herself.
Mera Salamin[edit | edit source]
Giovanni shares a mutual hatred with Mera after Mera injures Dark Star, Spike, and Crusher, and later tries to harm Molly. Another reason why he loathes her is how she intervenes in his plans and mocks how sloppy his approach is when it comes to crime. He takes pleasure after he manages to beat Mera in the final confrontation in the museum.
Sylvester Ashling[edit | edit source]
Giovanni and Sylvie got off to a bad start and got worse from there. His tolerance levels for Sylvie hit rock bottom after he used Nightmare Fuel on Molly, which surrounded them with fire and terrified Molly so much she started crying. After that, Giovanni's prime instinct when it came to Sylvie was to protect Molly from him and he wanted nothing more than to knock Sylvie on his backside. After defeating him in battle, he took delight in rubbing it in Sylvie's face but did not appreciate the remarks he made towards him and Molly, to say the least. He wanted to hit him with his Soul Slugger Doom Bat of Maximum Destruction, and if it wasn't for Molly's kindness and wisdom, he would have done just that. He reluctantly agrees to let Sylvie join the Banzai Blasters but only because he sees Molly is right about them needing to team up if they want to defeat Mera. Only to be irritated by Sylvie even further when he outright refuses to do such a thing, laughs at the idea, and scoffs at Giovanni for assuming he would follow him because, in his words, Giovanni is weaker than he is. They team up all the same, though albeit, very reluctantly. Giovanni and Sylvie's alliance is an unstable one as they dislike each other a great deal and have absolutely no respect for each other whatsoever. With Giovanni mocking and berating Sylvie at every opportunity, Sylvie gets more and more irritated with him as each moment passes. Giovanni is likely holding a grudge against Sylvie; still angry with him for attacking him and Molly and scaring Molly to the point of tears. If he is still upset, he likely won't let it go until he hears Sylvie apologize for his actions. Giovanni has previously referred to Sylvie by insulting nicknames such as Four-Eyes and Dork.
Rhonda Potage[edit | edit source]
Giovanni displays a huge distaste towards one of his moms, mostly due to how she is obnoxious and strict towards him, not to mention that while she always forbids him to do “crime things”, she is a hypocrite who presumably drinks at her "yoga classes". Therefore, Giovanni often talks smack behind her back.[10]
Car Crash[edit | edit source]
As Giovanni shares a mutual friendship with all of his minions, Car Crash is no different. Giovanni feels comfortable with ranting about his parental issues to him and trusts him enough to drive him to Redwood Run (despite his namesake).
Lorelai Blyndeff[edit | edit source]
Lorelai quickly became infatuated with Vincent. While Giovanni was consistently friendly with Lorelai, he was also disgusted by her bullying (especially of Molly) and how she lied and cheated to attempt to win a challenge to bake cookies. Despite Lorelai's faults and past actions, Giovanni still gave Lorelai his phone number (albeit under his real name, which initially confused her). Despite this, he still calls her by her fake name, the Harridan or HAREidan as she puts it. They are on good terms, but not quite friends as she still needs to learn sportsmanship, continuing and coping after failure, and how to be a minion. His relationship with Lorelai shows that he mostly wants his friends, flare, and fortitude in his morals rather than to do horrible deeds.
Crusher & Spike[edit | edit source]
Both Crusher and Spike have a massive crush on Giovanni, but Giovanni views their affection as admiration and seems oblivious to the fact that they are romantically attracted to him. Spike only demonstrated this once, whilst Crusher has been explicitly stated to have a crush on Giovanni.

Giovanni's birthday is February 6th.[24][4] This makes him an Aquarius.
- Giovanni has two moms. One of them had a sperm donor.[25] One is a smoker type woman who partakes in yoga night that involves more wine than exercise, and one is a crystal and essential oils type. - "Giovanni" is the Italian version of "John" and means "God is gracious." Giovanni's last name, Potage, literally means thick soup.
- Giovanni's pink hair was inspired by Team Rocket grunts having pink hair[37].
- His first name is likely a reference to the leader of Team Rocket.
- Brendan Blaber originally asked Danny Cooksey, the voice actor of Jack Spicer in Xiaolin Showdown, to voice Giovanni, but later Kyle Igneczi was chosen instead.[Citation Needed]
- His hair was inspired by the "B" in the BanzaI Blasters the wings of the airplane. Rhea Burtram also added a shark fin due to many characters being animal-themed.[38]
- Rhea used vector lines when designing the Vincent Murder outfit.[38]
