This article or section contains heavy spoilers for Prison of Plastic. Read with caution.

I wrote my last will and testament because life is fleeting and you never know when you or a loved one will die.

Molly Blyndeff, "Bear Trap"

Bear Trap redirects here. For the episode, see: Bear Trap

Molly-Wolly-Doodle-All-the-Day[6] "Molly" Blyndeff is a beleaguered 12-year-old girl who runs a family toy store in place of her neglectful father and sister, Lorelai. She winds up getting locked in the Sweet Jazz City Museum after hours during a school trip and is promptly roped into an insane plot over a mysterious amulet with the power to steal people's Epithets. During this, she befriended Giovanni Potage and Sylvester Ashling, joining Giovanni's Villain Group under the alias Bear Trap.

She would later find Rick Shades beached while with her best friends, Phoenica Fleecity and Trixie Roughhouse. After bringing him back to the store and treating him, her sister kidnapped Molly's teacher in an attempt to woo Giovanni. After defeating her with her friends and saving her teacher, Giovanni "kidnapped" Molly so she could be free from her life of constant work.

Her Epithet, ★Dumb★, can mute and/or simplify objects or people. This application may vary, from creating a bubble that prevents sound from traveling in or out, to lowering the damage of an attack, to even making someone less intelligent.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Molly is a small girl with brown skin, freckles, and curly dark brown hair with multicolored stars and loops styled like bear ears. She wears a pink and green striped shirt, a custom-made bear hoodie, a green skirt with dark ping leggins, and yellow boots. Her eyes are styled to look like buttons, similar to stuffed animals having button eyes.

Molly is a timid young girl who finds it hard to stand up for herself until she meets Giovanni Potage, who encourages and reinforces her to be more assertive and self-caring. For the majority of the time, she has a lack of confidence, which is likely the result of her home life, which involves her neglectful father, Martin, and sister, Lorelai, who place a large amount of responsibility on her shoulders without her permission.[2]

Molly also often takes night shifts in the toy store and often finds herself getting 5 hours of sleep a night. Therefore, in comparison with peers at her age, she is more haggard and unenthusiastic.

Nonetheless, after the museum incident, she seems to have grown a bit in terms of self-confidence and esteem. For example, she decided to give herself a deserved sleep instead of doing the usual night shift after leaving the museum and returning home.[7] She has also learned that helping others doesn't mean she has to sacrifice her well-being and be a pushover. She now knows that she has to sort out her personal issues before further helping others.

In stark contrast to her Epithet, Molly is intelligent for her age and has a developed set of analytical and observation skills stemming from tackling her dysfunctional family issues to keep her family afloat. In truth, she is skilled at pacifying others quickly due to being in the service industry for some time, as a means to stop them from continue bothering her and hide her dissatisfaction.[8][9]

She has a nervous tick of gripping her backpack straps for comfort. She's always nervous so she always grips them.[10][11] This has gotten to the point of people not noticing because she does it so much.[11] This is notably used several times during her encounter with Lorelai's dream bubble when she kidnapped Naven.

Molly Blyndeff was born on October 25[5] to Calliope and Martin Blyndeff, full name Molly-Wolly-Doddle-All Day-Blyndeff[6], in Sweet Jazz City, Taiga Country.[12]

to be added[13]

After her mother's death, her father had managed to work out a system with her school where she worked even days and went to school on odd ones.[14]

One time Molly came home to find her father had bought a giant-sized kiddy pool and several expensive pool toys. He was about to fill it up, but he forgot the water bill. The toys occupied 90% of the floor space afterward.[14]

Molly once saw Moxie Roughhouse take a bite out of a tire.[15]

Phoenica Fleecity says that she thought communism was bad, but Molly explains that was just propaganda from the Cold War. Trixie Roughhouse then yells at them because Molly had been talking about this, and Karl Marx, for 3 hours.[16] Naven says that it is important to find a way to deal with stressful situations; he then explains he copes by writing lesson plans. Molly comments that he is usually writing lesson plans. Naven looks up at her sadly.[17]

Giovanni Potage, with the help of Molly Blyndeff (villain name bear trap), Ben, and Car Crash disguised as Ben attempt to steal a valuable gemstone named the Ocean's Eye. Whilst this is happening, they are in plush form to advertise the then-new merch that can no longer be purchased. Molly distracts a guard so Giovanni and his boys can get into the vents. Then using the magnets in their hands to make a human chain, they descend to steal the Ocean's Eye. Molly cuts the red string lasers surrounding the valuable gem and Ben tries to pick it up. After he struggles with this, Giovanni muses that, in the movies, the thieves have no trouble carrying the valuable treasure. Giovanni realizes he can carry Car Crash with no problem and that friendship must be the real treasure. Giovanni and Car Crash leave gleefully via the vent they were dangling from accidentally leaving Ben in the museum. The three of them, Giovanni, Molly, and Car Crash go on to steal ice cream.

Abilities[edit | edit source]

Skillset[edit | edit source]

  • Financial Management: She is very proficient in managing money as she is the one running the store and doing the taxes.[Citation Needed]
  • Cashier: She is the Cashier for her family's store and as such is quite versed in it and dealing with unhappy people.[2]

Natural Abilities[edit | edit source]

  • Good Hearing: Molly has fairly sensitive hearing, able to hear Phoenica Fleecity yelling from far away over the city noise.[14]

Epithet: Dumb[edit | edit source]

  • Silencing: Molly can silence specific people and objects.[14]
    • Silence Bubble: Creates a soundproof bubble around herself that mutes everything outside and inside.[1]
      • Silent But Deadly[Citation Needed]: A combo technique she performs with Giovanni Potage, deafening the opponent while Giovanni attacks from behind undetected.[7]
  • Dumb Down:
    • Dumb Down Intelligence: Molly can use this to hypnotize people by reducing their intelligence, making them highly suggestible.[1]
    • Dumb Down Attack/Pain: Reduces any pain she or others feel and reduces the amount of damage an attack can do. With this, she can create an aura of serenity to reduce a person's discomfort.[1][7]
    • Hushabye: Dispels summoned objects/entities by "dumbing them down to nothing". It can only be used on small summons.[2]
      • Bear Paw: An upgraded version of Hushabye. By giving the attack a name and yelling it out loud while performing it, Molly enhances the power of the ability, focusing her epithet-nullifying energy into the shape of a bear's claws which can erase much larger constructs in a single swipe.[20]

Equipment[edit | edit source]

  • Hoodie: Molly's Hoodie was made by her mother and designed after Molly's favorite animal: a bear. Over the years, it became a source of great comfort for her.[4] Giovanni Potage and Mera Salamin were able to pick up by the hood as a way of disarming her.[1]
  • Backpack: to be added

Molly has a poor relationship with her father, Martin, as he is highly neglectful of her and unfit to be a parent in general. He uses her as a personal assistant and makes her do everything from watching his store at night to filing his taxes. Martin's treatment of Molly has left her in a constantly tired state and devoid of any confidence. He also unwittingly put Molly in danger by taking her phone to play games and completely forgetting about her when it was time to leave- leaving her trapped in the Sweet Jazz Museum overnight with no means of contacting him or anyone else who could help.

Lorelai Blyndeff[edit | edit source]

In addition to her negative father-daughter relationship, Molly also has strong tensions between her and her sister, Lorelai, who is childish and irresponsible. Lorelai, allegedly, feels animosity towards Molly for her ability to dumb down her dream bubbles and her refusal to play, viewing Molly as a bossy figure who only yells at her about chores and other work-related topics. Lorelai appears to also be favored by their father over Molly, further increasing tensions.

Mera Salamin[edit | edit source]

Molly is reasonably afraid of Mera's desire to steal Molly's Dumb Epithet. Despite this, Molly does try to sympathize with Mera. Despite Mera attempting to harm her, Molly still forgives her enough to dumb down her pain before Mera is sent to jail. However, Mera currently doesn't care enough to accept Molly's friendship.

Indus Tarbella[edit | edit source]

If their situation were different, Molly and Indus could be friends. He helps to begin with, freeing her after she had been strapped to a chair with duct tape by Giovanni Potage and helping her defeat, Flamethrower, Car Crash, and Ben. However, when he and Mera Salamin learn that Molly's epithet can dull pain, they both realize this is what they need to finally cure Mera of the effects caused by her own Epithet, which causes her to be in constant pain, and Indus apprehends Molly as soon as Mera orders him to, without hesitation. But Indus is a man of honor and he can't help but let Molly and Giovanni go after they "help" him and convince him he owes them. He still respects Molly, especially after seeing her willingness to protect Giovanni, and is friendly towards her all the time. He doesn't have any ill intent towards Molly and he might even feel some guilt over helping Mera take a little girl's Epithet away. However, the person Indus cares for most has been in constant pain the entire time he has known her, and seeing her in so much agony has likely caused him a great deal of pain as well. He knows how desperate she is to make it end and his determination to help her in any way he can outweighs everything else, even any moral conflicts he might feel.

Giovanni Potage[edit | edit source]

Giovanni comforting Molly

Although intimidated by him at first, Molly quickly warms up to Giovanni after learning that he is not only harmless but secretly nice as well. They bond over their mutual interests and when Giovanni gets the hint something's troubling her, invites her to sit with him and talk about it. Molly hesitates for a moment but Giovanni's genuine kindness helps her open up and she tells him about how difficult things have become since her mother passed away and how she's had to fill the void her mother left behind. It becomes evident to Giovanni that Molly takes on almost all the responsibilities of running a household and a business because her father and sister are unwilling to take them on themselves.

That lights a fire in Giovanni and he gives her an empowering pep talk about how she's way too much of a pushover and that shouldn't let other people step on her. He reminds her that she's important too and encourages her to start standing up for herself. Giving Molly more confidence than she had before and from this moment, she knows she's found a true friend in Giovanni. Despite only knowing each other for a few hours, Molly and Giovanni are already growing close to one another. Giovanni is rapidly becoming an older brother figure to Molly and, despite being a villain, a positive role model as well. Before meeting Giovanni, Molly didn't really have anyone she could rely on but as soon as Giovanni learns this, he quickly steps up to become the person she needs.

Sylvester Ashling[edit | edit source]

Molly and Sylvester do not get off to a good start as he attacks her and Giovanni, thinking that they are trying to steal the Arsene Amulet, which he is hoping to study. However, when they manage to defeat Sylvie and they get a chance to talk, Sylvie learns that he had been tricked and it was, in fact, Mera who was trying to steal the amulet and this leaves him open to persuasion. His reluctance to cooperate has Molly comparing him to the difficult customers she's dealt with and uses the same tactics she uses on them to persuade Sylvie. She's simply nice to him, in his case, offering to be his friend and this works, convincing him to team up with her and Giovanni temporarily. As they begin to work together, Molly learns that Sylvie is nicer than he seems, with him offering to help her professionally as soon as he learns she has a problem, leading to them beginning to form a genuine friendship.

Percival King[edit | edit source]

Due to the events that occurred in the Sweet Jazz City Museum, Molly is conflicted over whether she views Percy as an ally or a threat. While Molly is willing to assist the police, she does so at the risk of exposing the fact that she was temporarily affiliated with Giovanni's Banzai Blasters; Molly is reluctant to provide any information that the police could use to arrest Giovanni, and she even lies to Percy to protect Giovanni and herself. Otherwise, Molly respects the police and is friendly towards Percy.

Phoenica Fleecity and Trixie Roughhouse are Molly's best friends. Molly has shown to be protective of Phoenicia as she tries to prevent Rick Shades from befriending Phoenicia.[21] They would hang out often and seen together to the point they are known as the Neapolitan Trio or Neo Trio.

Upon first meeting Rick Shades, she was cautious and evasive of his attempts to befriend her. But when Rick passes out from hunger and exhaustion, Molly attempts to give him aid.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

General[edit | edit source]

  • She gets about 5 hours of sleep a night.[22]
  • The loops in her hair are styled after bear ears.[23]
  • Her mother made her bear hoodie from scratch. She wears it everyday.[23]
  • It was revealed in the TWO-LOWEEN script that her full name is "Molly-Wolly-Doodle-All-the-Day Blyndeff" because her father wanted his daughters to have "unique" names.
    • According to the script, it's "Molly-Wolly-Doodle-All-the-Day Blyndeff", while Dani Chambers says "Molly-Wolly-Doodle-All-the-Way Blyndeff"
  • Molly is biracial. Her father is Caucasian and her mother is black.[Citation Needed]
  • In "Bear Trap", it is revealed that she has pyrophobia. In "The Doctor is In", it is revealed that she has misophonia, and one of her trigger sounds is a fire alarm. This may be associated with her mother’s untimely death two years prior.
    • Jello has misophonia as well, and Molly is a way for him to vent about it.[24]
  • The stars in her hair are naturally grown rather than being hair clips. They also have the texture of cereal marshmallows and taste terrible.[22][25] Specifically, they taste like dusty plastic.[26]
    • If you pull one off, it will regrow eventually.[27]
  • Molly's defense mechanism is going through your mailbox to burn your tax return, so you never get it.[28]
  • There's an unused line in Molly's audition packet where she gets mad at her sister for breaking her teddy bear.[29]
  • Molly's friend group (consisting of herself, Trixie Roughhouse, and Phoenica Fleecity) are referred to as the "Neo Trio", likely due to their hair colors resembling Neapolitan ice cream.[30]
  • Molly’s favorite snack is Teddy Grahams.[Citation Needed]
    • Her favorite food is oatmeal.[5]
  • It's confirmed by Jello that she would be very dangerous if she became a villain when she grew up.[31]
  • According to Jello, she is "1-3 years away from the point where her constant seething rage finally boils over her" and Giovanni is the only one stopping this.[32]
  • She is asexual.[33]
    • More specifically, Molly knows she's on the ace spectrum so that's the label she's using for now.[34]
  • She is Chaotic Good.[35]
  • She is pro-communism.[16]
  • On Twitter, Brendan Blaber revealed how she would play Among Us, which is:[36]
    • CREWMATE: Dutifully does tasks. Weaponizes her own cuteness in order to never get killed.
    • IMPOSTER: Shockingly good at this. Sews the seeds of infighting while saying VERY little.
  • During the Museum Arc she increased from 3 Stars to 4 Stars of proficiency.[5]
    • In the past Molly had a score of 18,[37] Based off past conversion of Tiers and Points, it can be assumed that Star 3 is 17-24 and that Star 4 starts on 25.[38] This means Molly raised at least 7 points during the Museum Arc.
  • Her height is 4'7"[5]
  • Molly's birthday is October 25.[5] This makes her a Scorpio.
  • Unsurprisingly, her favorite animal is the bear.[5]
  • She likes sleeping and holding a warm cup of tea or cocoa.[5]
  • Molly’s favorite flavor of lip balm is raisin, and her second favorite is apple cinnamon.[21]
  • Her favorite color is brown.[39]

Future of the Series[edit | edit source]

Anime Campaign[edit | edit source]

Design[edit | edit source]

  • Her last name (in conjunction with her Epithet's ability) is a pun derived from the expression "blind, deaf, and dumb," an outdated descriptor for someone who cannot see, hear, or speak.[43]
  • Her eyes are button eyes to befit her family running a toy store.[44][45]
  • Rhea Burtram regretted making her design so complex due to making her difficult to draw and having to fix others' mistakes when drawing her.[45]

Tierlists[edit | edit source]

  • On Twitter, Jello made a tier list of how well-liked in the fandom each character is, placing Molly in "Universal Favorite"[46]
  • On Twitter, Jello made a tier list of Stardew Valley spouses, Molly being paired with Penny because "Molly marries Penny to free her from her familial situation... then immediately divorces. "Go on," she says, "You're free. You can go now! Anywhere you want! ... What's that look for? ... Oh you're in 'love' with me? Oh. Oh, uh.... no thanks!"[47]

Reception[edit | edit source]

  • Molly along with Arnold Markdown are Jello's favorite characters out of the Epithet Erased cast.[48]

Fanworks[edit | edit source]

  • On Twitter, Jello revealed he was sent a set of teas inspired by characters from Epithet Erased. Molly was used on a tin of mambo and earl grey moonlight tea titled "Moll-Leaf Blyndeff". It had the caption "Sprinkles + Apple Pieces = Cereal Marshmallows!".[49]
    • On Twitter, Jello retweeted a promotion for Rick Shades-inspired tea from a Prison of Plastic collection made by the same creator as the ones he was sent.[50] Molly was also a part of this collection, her likeness being used for a mambo, currant, and spiced apple chai tea titled "Brew-Trap". It has the subtitle, "This Marshmallow Now Packs A Serious Cinnamon Bite!".[51]
