Great at Cowboy

From Epithet Erased Wiki

Great at Cowboy also known as Zora Credits Song is the 2nd ending theme of Epithet Erased that ran from Redwood Run to All's Well That Ends Well. It is sung by Dawn M Bennett, the voice actress of Zora Salazar. An extended version was produced because the Prison of Plastic Kickstarter reached $230K.[1]

Lyrics[edit | edit source]

At the stroke of sundown

There's a shadow in the wood

Not sure what she's up to

But you know it ain't no good

She's a demon, she's a devil,

She's a rough-and-tumble rebel

Yeah, she's far beyond your level and

She's watching you...

Oooh, ooooh...

In the gloamy orange light

You won't live to see the night

In the woods you hear a whisper

Could it be the Phantom Drifter?

There's a chance you went n' missed her

Just don't turn around...

In a flash she's there behind you

Out of sight and out of mind

And now no one will ever find you

Buried six feet down...

At the stroke of sundown

There's a shadow in the wood

Not sure what she's up to

But you know it ain't no good

She's a demon, she's a devil,

She's a rough-and-tumble rebel

Yeah, she's far beyond your level and

She's watching you...

Oooh, ooooh...

In the gloamy orange light

You won't live to see the night

In the woods you hear a whisper

Could it be the Phantom Drifter?

There's a chance you went n' missed her

Just don't turn around...

In a flash she's there behind you

Out of sight and out of mind

And now no one will ever find you

Buried six feet down...

Staring at the sundown

A green flash of memory

In the lambent light I spy

My ma, my pa, and me

We were diggin’ for a dino

‘Neath a sunny morning sky, though

Lookin’ back now only I know

What it’s gonna be…

Oooh, ooooh...

They unearthed that golden box

From the dirt and bone and rock

And the Banzais came a-crawlin’

What they did then was appalling’

Golden hunger ever-callin’

Needing to be fed

And those yellow-bellied cowards

Saw that ma ‘n pa were showered

With a lead rain and the flowers

Were a blooming red

-- (whistle break) --

Summers full of sundowns

Winters flew by like the leaves

Little girl grew up alone

And learned to shoot the breeze

Moved from drillin’ on to killin’

Made her livin’ as a villain

Heart is broke, but body willin’

And the gun’s for hire

Someone said “Your gun’s misguided”

Had a fight that was one-sided

Eye-to-eye they both Kaleid-ed

Came down to the wire…

She’s a demon… she’s a devil…

Finally someone on her level

Found a base to match her treble

Now she comprehends

And the dawn, she starts to brighten

Finally knows why she is fightin’

On her own she was a titan

Now she’s among friends…

Ooh…

Oooooh.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The wanted poster either uses the audition packet portraits or the Anime Campaign portraits.
  • Zora whistles this song when Car Crash sees her in the episode "Redwood Run".
    • However, the subtitles on VRV and Youtube label her whistling "Great at Crime" since they both sound the same.
  • Many of the wanted posters show portraits of characters present in Western Arc done by Siv Ryan, including, in order of appearance, as well other information/reward:
  • Other posters are too much hidden and with cut information, but it's still possible to see something or identify the character, including:
  • The stretch goal on the Prison of Plastic Kickstarter for $230K is an extended version of this song. It has been reached.[9]
  • On Twitter, Jello acknowledged how happy he is that people let him get away with calling Zora "The Phantom Drifter" in this song despite having no set up. The reason for its inclusion is because he needed a rhyme and this was his only idea.[10]
  • The reason there is the contradiction with the lines, "Had a fight that was one-sided" and "Came down to the wire" is because Jello could not think of a different rhyme. There's no special meaning to it.[11]
