Dumb is the epithet of Molly Blyndeff.

While Molly herself has never really thought much of her own epithet, Mera Salamin sought to steal Dumb using the Arsene Amulet to numb the pain cause by her own epithet, Fragile.

Description

While the word "dumb" is most commonly used to refer to things that are unintelligent or stupid, it can also be used to refer to things that are speechless and silent, and most of Molly's abilities and character traits are derived from the latter meaning.

Weaknesses

Molly isn't able to "dumb down" things that are massively superior to her, such as Dr. Beefton.

Usage

Dumb doesn't really have much offensive or defensive abilities. It just allows the user to temporarily deafen sounds and numb pain. Molly has used her epithet to lower the intelligence of Ben, but Brendan Blaber has said that smarter antagonists would likely be able to resist this.

• Silence Bubble: Molly can create a soundproof bubble to mute everything around herself inside and out.
• Dumb Down: She can also "dumb down" any pain she or others feel, sometimes using this to dumb down enemies, lowing their intelligence and making them highly suggestible. With this, she is able to create an aura of serenity to reduce a person's discomfort.
  • Hushabye: Molly can dispel summoned entities by "dumbing them down to nothing". It can only be used on small summons.

Trivia

• Molly Blyndeff's last name is derived from the words "blind" and "deaf". As her epithet is dumb, this is a play on the phrase "blind, deaf and dumb".
