History

Brendan first joined YouTube in September of 2009[1], where he started out by making as series of mock-parodies of internet culture in the form of the Welcome to series, as well as video comic dubs with various amateur voice actors. During the casting for his comic dub for Cucumber Quest, Brendan formed a group of amateur voice actors called the Scrubadubs. This group would eventually come to include some of the voice actors, such as William T. Sopp and Zach Maher, who would go on to be cast in Epithet Erased.

Brendan continued expanding his YouTube channel with his Welcome to series and his comic dubs until they were eventually replaced with other series such as So this is Basically, various marathon reviews of films and other media, Let's Make a _____ , and a few other unrelated videos. In order to cover the costs of hiring additional help to produce these videos, Brendan opened a Patreon in March of 2017, where donors could vote on subjects for future videos and receive previews of upcoming projects.

In early 2016, Brendan began to host a TTRPG game of his own design on the Twitch channel SupriseRoundRPG (formerly known as WarpedLamp, who was also the individual who hosted most of the live streams). The game was called Anime Campaign, and was designed around player characters having a super power based on a single word (determined by a random word generator) known as an epithet. There were eight total episodes (discounting the lost "episode 0") , and the series ran from 2016 to 2018. The game involved several of the friends Brendan had made in the Scrubadubs group, including those who would later go on to reprise their roles in Epithet Erased.

Following the conclusion of Anime Campaign in 2018, Brendan returned to his YouTube channel and his voice acting career being his primary focuses. In October of that year, he reached out to one of the frequent sponsors for his videos, the media streaming service VRV, with a pitch for an adaptation of Anime Campaign that he had begun writing several months prior. VRV accepted Brendan's pitch, and production of Epithet Erased began in early 2019.

Trivia

  • He is bisexual, and currently has a boyfriend. [2]
  • He isn't against headcanons that people create for Epithet Erased, just disinterested at them. [3]
    • The one he detests the most is the Trans-Giovanni headcanon, because he finds it regressive and sexist to stereotype Giovanni as female at birth only due to having feminine traits (like knitting and pink being favorite color).
    • To clarify, he has stated he is fine with people interpreting Giovanni as transgender, as long as their reasoning isn't soley based on the fact that Giovanni knits and wears skirts and is empathetic etc.
  • Out of the cast, Molly and Arnold are his favorites.[4]
  • He has a Tumblr page were he sometimes answers questions about Epithet Erased.[6]
  • The composer for the soundtrack of Epithet Erased, Plasterbrain, is Brendan's sister.
  • His favorite jokes from the series so far are “I wish my mom was a ghost! She’s just dead” and “NO! MY COUPONS! YOU CAN’T SCAN THE BARCODE IF IT’S GOLD! NOW THEY’RE WORTHLESS!!!” [7]
  • He has said on a past Twitch stream that if he had an epithet, he thinks it would be the word "dapple".
  • He voices Naven Nuknuk.
