Ocean Country is a country in the World of Epithet Erased. It is hidden at the bottom of the sea where everyone knows the lost art of magic. Candy Factories, a magical academy, video games, and electric wanders hide the nation's dark beating heart in the tunnels below[1] Rick Shades is from there.

It is ruled over by an ancient warlock by the name of "He Who Hungers Endlessly." he is described by Rick Shades as a "big squid man, 10 feet tall, sits on an electric throne: terrifying." He began The Harvesting, an Ocean Country custom, consisting of taking away powerful inscribed children to live in the coliseum's cells. There, they are to battle each other until they are powerful enough to face against the supreme leader himself. The custom is a way for He Who Hungers Endlessly to gain power; Since the children inevitably lose, they are essentially farmed for experience. One of these being Rick who was taken at 12, due to his power not leveling up from battles he would befriend the other prisoners and throw his battles. When he was 20 he decided to escape, succeeding, with help from the other prisoners.[3]

Surface-Dwellers

There are almost no pure-blooded Ocean Race people on the surface, but their descendants live in diaspora. Ocean Race people have dark skin and bright hair colored like poisonous sea creatures. Anyone with unnatural colored hair (present in surface-dwellers like Trixie Roughhouse and Giovanni Potage) likely have Ocean Race in their blood, as it's always a dominant trait.[2]
