Cowboys or Cowgirls, were the people guarding the dye mines of northern Taiga Country. To camouflage themselves against the tundra they would wear white. Then when they tried to steal territory from each other they would mark each other with black or dark brown dye, which were the cheapest. And when combined with the white clothing the black spots made them look like cows, thus the name: "cowboy".[1]
