In the World of Epithet Erased, Stats are measurable[1] metrics to measure someone's Proficiency, Stamina, and Creativity. They range from 1 to 100[2][3] and that is split between into 15 Stars and 3 Tiers[2][3].

Scale

Proficiency, Stamina, and Creativity are placed on all on a scale of 1 to 100.[2][3] The Stars are more to show "the percentile of quality you're at".[4] The First two Tiers have you progress a star every 8 points while the third have it happen every 4.[Note 1] Anime Campaign does not have Stars.[5]

The first tier is, Star, 95% of the population fall under. If you have 2-3 Stars is the average joe, while 5 Stars is impressive, something that you would be known for since you are extremely good at it.[3]

The second tier, Orbit, <4% of the population fall under. Going into this tier means your stat went “into Orbit”. Most people who reach this tier will only hit one or two Stars of it in their lifetime. "If you’re Orbit-level skilled at something you’re probably the guy that a big-name company calls in to solve problems. You’ve made a significant name for yourself doing what you do and you’ll be very hard to replace if you quit. The average person might meet maybe one or two Orbit-tier people in their life, and maybe they’ve heard of a few more." Sylvie will likely reach this tier in the next decade or two.[3]

The third tier, Nova, "is reserved for the exceptionally rare, stupidly powerful people who come around once in a lifetime. These are your JRPG final bosses, your anime supervillains, your legendary heroes of yore. If someone is a Nova-class fighter, they have made history, guaranteed. There’s a reason Zora is at the #1 spot on the MOST WANTED list and why Howie is the best contractor in the Epithet world’s equivalent of New York City."[3]

One thing that should be noted is that a character can have different stats in different tiers.[3] This can be seen with characters like Howie Honeyglow and Lorelai Blyndeff.

Points Stars Points Stars Points Stars
1-8 Star 1 41-48 Orbit 1 81-84 Nova 1
9-16 Star 2 49-56 Orbit 2 85-88 Nova 2
17-24 Star 3 57-64 Orbit 3 89-92 Nova 3
25-32 Star 4 65-72 Orbit 4 93-96 Nova 4
33-40 Star 5 73-80 Orbit 5 97-100 Nova 5

Proficiency

Proficiency is a person's control and mastery over their epithet abilities.[6] Mundies instead gain Proficiency based on their specialty.[7] In Anime Campaign, it is defined as "how skilled and creative a character is when using their abilities".[5] This stat also seemingly includes the Creativity Stat that was not used in Anime Campaign. In Epithet Erased this is still somewhat the case as the reason Indus has not become more proficient is the lack of variability and creativity in his moveset.[Citation Needed]

This is the only stat that has been shown to be measurable in universe, with Molly Blyndeff in the past having a score of 18, high for age. This was caused by her constant use to contend with her sister, Lorelai Blyndeff. Hers is in the high 60s.[1] Characters are shown to be able to gain Proficiency from battle. With Giovanni Potage directly saying it in Episode 3.[8] As well as Molly going from 3 Stars to 4 Stars after the Museum Arc.[9] (Meaning she went from 18 to 25+) Giovanni did also gain some Proficiency but not enough to go to next Star Rank.[10]

In, Anime Campaign, a Player character rolls a 1d20 to determine their starting Proficiency. (The DM may optionally let the Player Roll an additional time if they roll a Natural 20)[5] What they get determine the strength of their starting abilities.[11] Every level the Player may choose between gaining 1-3 Proficiency or 2-6 Stamina (Depending on the Strength of the encounter). They also gain 1 Proficiency from rolling a Natural 20 on 1d20 dice roll that relates to their epithet. Mundies also gain 1-2 Proficiency (Depending on the Type of Mundie) from a natural 20 on anything relevant to the character that they can become an expert at (like attacking).[5]
